When is this Ruckus?
Saturday, September 10th. 3pm starts the competition, then a cookout (6pm), then some live music(7pm). What more could you ask?
To register your family, simply email Tracey Woodward at thwoodward@earthlink.net and put “Ruckus” on the subject line.
First FIVE families to register will start the competition with 10 points! All families who register before noon on the 10th will start with 5 points.
2011 Ruckus events:
| Event | Description |
| Looney Tunes | A mixture of “Name that Tune” and “Scramblets. Families will hear
snippets of 10 to 15 songs. They will need to identify the artist of each song, then take the first letter of each artist’s first name and unscramble the letters to arrive a particular word. |
| Scavenger Gamble |
Eight to ten vials will be hidden about the Lakemont property, each containing a letter that spells a particular word. Families will read provided clues, search for the letters, and try to unscramble them to determine the mystery word. |
| Heads Up Swim Relay |
Four members from each team will participate in this relay. First participant will swim 50 meters with a kickboard (any style you want). Kickboard is then handed to a second participant while a third participant “carries” the second participant 25 meters (second participant must hold kickboard with two hands on top of head and feet cannot touch bottom). Fourth participant (who lines up on far side of pool), then gets kickboard, places a cup with tennis ball on top of kickboard, carries kickboard with two hands on top of head (without dropping – if you drop, you go back to wall!) and “travels” 25 meters to finish. |
Knock Out Survivor Style |
Each team selects one member to be the target. All “targets” line up on one tennis court line facing away from others. All other team members will take turns throwing marshmallows at any team member desired. “Targets” who get hit three times are out, thus eliminating their team. |
| Wacky Relay |
This is one wacky relay where you may have to run with a beach ball between your legs, carry a greased watermelon, do some speed eating, even take a PIE IN THE FACE! |
How long does the Ruckus last?
Expect to spend about two and one-half hours at the pool.
Does everyone on a team have to be from the same family?
No, but there are some guidelines:
- Teams may have 4 to 6 participants.
- At minimum, a team must have one related parent and child.
- Teams are limited to three non-family members.
What does it take to win the Ruckus?
Your team must score the most points in the competition. Points are awarded in each event according to your place in that event.
What do we get if our team wins?
Major bragging rights……and your family’s name engraved on the Family Ruckus trophy! There will be photo opportunities which include all participants drinking from the (trophy) cup.
